From Friday 4 July Baddow Village Table Tennis Club
will operate its Club Night, Junior Coaching, and Pay & Play on
Friday's from 7 - 10p.m. at the Chelmsford Sports & Athletics Stadium,
Melbourne Park, Salerno Way, Chelmsford. This is also the venue for
Central Essex Summer League matches.
Landmark is the tallest block of flats in Chelmsford!
How to Get There
1. From Chelmsford Town Centre [MAP]
At the Army & Navy roundabout take
the dual carriage-way (Parkway) through Chelmsford. At the Broomfield
Road corner traffic lights, go straight on heading towards Broomfield
Hospital (H, A&E signs). In the one way system after the traffic
lights keep to the left hand lane going up Broomfield Road passing the
Grammar School on the left. After approx. 400yds there is a BP Petrol
station on left, then some traffic lights (Cockney Corner). At the
traffic lights turn left into Corporation Road, at the top of that road
turn left into Kings Road, then take the second right (the first right
is no entry!) into North Avenue. At the roundabout at the top of North
Avenue take the second exit (turn left!). The large block of flats
should then be in front of you about 800 yds. Take the second turn on
the right into Salerno Way (the Athletic Centre is signposted), then
first left into a slip road through the park. The Athletic centre is in
front of you! There is a large car park.
2. From Southend [MAP]
Take the A130 into Chelmsford arriving at
the Army & Navy roundabout. Then follow directions through
Chelmsford as above.
3. From Maldon [MAP]
Head towards Chelmsford on the A414.
Arriving at the Army & Navy roundabout. Then follow directions
through Chelmsford as 1. above.
4. From the A12 [MAP]
If coming from London, take the A130
Southend exit, at the top of the slip road go left towards Chelmsford.
Arriving at the Army & Navy roundabout. Then follow directions
through Chelmsford as 1. above.
If coming from Colchester/Witham. You can
either stay on the A12 until the Southend exit then follow the previous
paragraph. Or you can exit A12 at the Springfield Interchange (A138
exit). At the top of the slip road turn right. Then either follow the
signs (H, A&E, signposted Braintree/Stanstead etc.) or proceed into
Chelmsford on the old A12 (in which case you will come to the Army &
Navy roundabout and can follow directions in 1 above).
if you choose to follow the Stanstead/Braintree
you will go past Sainsbury's superstore on your right into White Hart
Lane. Continue to follow the signs around the ring road until you come
to the third roundabout after Sainsbury's. The take first exit heading
back into Chelmsford, straight across next roundabout, and take the
second exit (turn right) at the last roundabout. At the traffic lights
turn left (into Broomfield Road, heading into Chelmsford). At the next
traffic lights turn right into Patching Hall Lane. Pass the SJP
senior school on your left and go left at the mini-roundabout into
Partridge Avenue. At the next roundabout take the 4th exit (the second
is a no entry) and you should see the large block of flats straight in
front of you about 800 yds. follow the final directions from 1
above.
5. From Writtle (A1060 Sawbridgeworth
road) [MAP]
Head towards Chelmsford at the traffic
lights just past the Old Chelmsfordians clubhouse, turn left into
Chignall Road. After about 1/2 mile at the first main turning on the
right (it is actually the fourth on right from traffic lights) turn
right into Melbourne Avenue (there is a large church on the corner). The
large block of flats will then be directly in front of you, about 1/2
mile. At the flats turn left into Salerno Way and follow signs to
Athletic Stadium.
6. If You Get Lost
Go into Chelmsford town centre and follow
the directions from the Army & Navy roundabout. Everyone knows where
that is! The distance from the Army & Navy is around 3 miles.
