After approx. 400yds there is a BP Petrol station on left, then some traffic lights (Cockney Corner). At the traffic lights turn left into Corporation Road, at the top of that road turn left into Kings Road, then take the second right (the first right is no entry!) into North Avenue. At the roundabout at the top of North Avenue take the second exit (turn left!). The large block of flats should then be in front of you about 800 yds. Take the second turn on the right into Salerno Way (the Athletic Centre is signposted), then first left into a slip road through the park. The Athletic centre is in front of you! There is a large car park.

If coming from Colchester/Witham. You can either stay on the A12 until the Southend exit then follow the previous paragraph. Or you can exit A12 at the Springfield Interchange (A138 exit). At the top of the slip road turn right. Then either follow the signs (H, A&E, signposted Braintree/Stanstead etc.) or proceed into Chelmsford on the old A12 (in which case you will come to the Army & Navy roundabout and can follow directions in 1 above).

if you choose to follow the Stanstead/Braintree you will go past Sainsbury's superstore on your right into White Hart Lane. Pass the SJP senior school on your left and go left at the mini-roundabout into Partridge Avenue. At the next roundabout take the 4th exit (the second is a no entry) and you should see the large block of flats straight in front of you about 800 yds. follow the final directions from 1 above.
