THEY DID IT!

Baddow Village F, under the captaincy of Richard Upson, have won the Chelmsford & District League Handicap KO Cup. This is the third time in 5 years that the Club have won this particular competition. On the night the team made the most of the generous handicap of 17 year old John Patman, whose game has significantly improved since the season started and the handicaps were set. But man-of-the -match on this occasion has to go to father, John. For it was two fighting performances from John, that set up the winning margin a 5:2 victory over ECC D.  The first game of the evening went to ECC, when Neil Gooday found he had just too much to make up against Paul Chinnery from his own division, a 14 point handicap difference seemed a little harsh. Mark redressed the balance with a stirring 13, -16, 6 win over Russell Forde, and John duly despatched Neil Thompson. Russell Forde fought back for ECC with a win over three ends over Neil. But John put Baddow back in front. Mark set up the winning position with the game of the match a tremendous battle with Neil Thompson in which he just kept his nose in front to take the game 18, 20. John then sealed the match cruising past Russell Forde with room to spare. A great team performance.
