BURSTING AT THE SEAMS

Club Coaches Neil Gooday and Adrian Pitt, together with their band of helpers, got a big shock when table tennis coaching resumed at the Cathedral School on the 13th September. They were inundated with newcomers. So much so that both 1hr sessions are now fully subscribed, and people are having to go on a waiting list! For the first time since the venture began just 1 year ago, a full six tables have been deployed for each session. With over 30 juniors now on the books, serious consideration will have to be given to just how adequate the Cathedral is for coaching purposes. A great atmosphere has been generated at the Cathedral School, and those attending seem eager to learn. And the good news is that a number are now coming through from the coaching into competitive table tennis in the Introductory League - CLICK - operated by the Chelmsford & District Table Tennis League. As an earlier report indicates, the Club will, for the first time ever, be operating five teams in CLICK. 3 of which will be made up from players introduced through the coaching activities.

With the increased numbers there is a continuing and pressing need for regular adult support. Anyone who might be able to help in any way, should contact either Adrian or Neil

The pictures below show something of the current story.

Just 4 of the 6 tables in use for the 'improvers' session and as you can see at least 12 youngsters using every inch of available space

Now who's not concentrating on what coach Neil Gooday has to say? The 'beginners' session listen in - mostly - as Neil talks them through some of the evenings programme.
