A GREAT DAY OUT

Three Baddow juniors, Adam , Sam and Hannah Pitt, took a chance to attend a  regional table tennis coaching session at St Neots Table Tennis Club. Invitations to attend, on Sunday 22 Feb, had been given to all league's within the area by Essex County Table tennis Association for juniors U13. Adam, Sam and Hannah together with Coach Adrian & Adam's Dad Mike, were 3 of 4 participants from Chelmsford to make the journey.

After an early start and a slight detour we arrived at 9.15 for a 9 am start.  There were 8 tables available (oh, for a venue like that!) and 14 juniors attended in total.  Coaching was lead by the local club coach assisted by Jon Hill (Chelmsford), and Ken Marchant.

The kids enjoyed a brief warm up and then it was on to the tables for nearly 5 hours of practice! And only a quick break for lunch!  The kids came from all around the region and Tom Hill was another representative from the Chelmsford League. The day ended with a top table competition. First with only forehands, then only backhands being allowed and culminated in all shots allowed.  The kids enjoyed it so much they are planning to return on Sunday  16th March.

Hopefully now knowing the route we should get there on time!

Any other juniors under 13 are invited - if you need a lift contact Adrian (250710)

9 year old Hannah Pitt made a big impact at the training day.

And as you can see from this recent picture of Hannah in action she is learning all the most modern serving techniques.

Not only that but she can hit the ball pretty well to! As anyone who has been on the receiving end of one of her forehands will know only too well!

We think you would have to say that 11 year old Adam Pitt is one of the most improved juniors in the Club over the last 12 months. you can expect to hear and see much more of him in the future.

For pure talent 12 year old Sam Pitt has it all. When he puts his mind to it that is!

Hopefully attending the Regional Training Squad will enable Sam to see a wider perspective and to match himself against some of the best in his age group. Which should lead to even greater things.
