Awards Galore

The Baddow Village led table tennis coaching, held weekly at the Cathedral School in Chelmsford town centre, continues to go from strength to strength. Two 1hour sessions are held every Friday evening, for beginners and improvers, and both are fully subscribed. Coach Adrian Pitt says; "we could do more if only we could get more table space". At present the maximum of 6 tables are in constant use throughout the two sessions. And having six tables is a little cramped in the confines of the school hall!

The school staff have however been magnificent, including regularly advertising the coaching sessions. And the improved standard of those attending is showing through with the numbers that are moving into playing in the Chelmsford & District Table Tennis League introductory league competition, CLICK. Lead Coach Neil Gooday is assisted by Adrian and now by Ryan Pitt, who obtained his ETTA coaching qualification last year. It has also been very encouraging to see one or two parents regularly assisting. Including former Chelmsford Ladies Champion Julie Vansertima, and ECC second division regular Ray Lawrence.

Coach Neil says; "the kids are making real progress and being able to recognise this with the Dunlop Skills Award Scheme certificates is a great encouragement". Keep up the good work, that's what we say! Who knows maybe one day we will have our very own centre able to offer a much greater range of facilities for a whole community of people who want to learn and to play table tennis!
