26 Members and their guests exchanged the table tennis table for the dining table on Saturday, 10 May. The occasion the Annual Club Dinner, held at the Green Dragon, Great Leighs. The pictures show a selection of those attending. |

Taking advice from an elder statesman. Mike Pitt consults with Fred Henwood. The subject we believe was "making amends". Mike had completely forgotten wife Shirley's birthday the previous Saturday! The dinner provided just the chance of making up for this forgetfulness! |
Member Ron Arthur in thoughtful mode. Or, did he think that Shirley was ignoring him? Especially if he was talking with Fred and Mike at the time about that missed birthday!! |
The picture of health and happiness. Ralph Turbin's wife is explaining that it is Ralph's table tennis and bowls - sometimes both on the same night - that are keeping him so fit and healthy. After all table tennis is a sport for all ages. |
It made a real change to see two of the Club's younger members at the dinner this year. Teenagers Ed & Tom Miles have made quite an impact at the Club over the 12 months or so they have been members. Not only did they say they had enjoyed the evening out - but had been fascinated by Chairman Peter Revell's anecdotes - about pubs! |

"Come on Geoff, surely you are not going to sit there all evening reading that copy of Table Tennis News are you"? Said Mrs Morris to her husband. |
At least Eleni Manolitsaki is smiling for the camera. But why were Michael Rostoft and Frank Neill looking the other way? Surely not camera shy? |
Club Secretary Adrian Pitt, with his back to the camera, looks thoughtful. But Social Secretary Diane Pitt - who had masterminded this special event - seems to be in animated discussion. Still trying to work out whether Bill had got the right order perhaps? |
It's always a pleasure to have special guests. This year it was Reg Innes, a stalwart of the Brentwood League, and his wife. Perhaps Reg is transferring into the Chelmsford League? Well if you do Reg, you won't find a better Club than Baddow Village. Even if we do say so ourselves. |
With a crafty net and an edge, Bill Wall just made it in time for the dinner. Mind you most of us were half way through our desserts by then! |
"Give us a bit Michael", pleaded Diane. "Yes, that. What did you think I meant"? |
In customary style, Club Chairman Peter Revell welcomed members and their guests to the dinner. Thanked Social Secretary Diane Pitt for the excellent organisation, and the staff at the restaurant for the meal and their service. |
Just checking that the boys are still awake in the corner.
