Members Turn Out in Force Thirty two members, including five of our youngest junior members, attended the Club's Annual General Meeting on Friday 23 May. The highest turn out for a business meeting ever recorded by the Club and a solid demonstration of the interest of all members in safeguarding its future. The meeting included the issue of the latest edition of the Club Magazine, BVTTC News, containing the Officers reports for the last year (see Magazine page of this site) and a lively debate on the Club's urgent search for new premises more suited to the growing membership. There were two changes to the Club's Officers. 17 year old Ryan Pitt, who qualified as an ETTA Level 2 Coach last year, was appointed as Social Secretary for the forthcoming year. The youngest person ever appointed to a senior management position within the Club. And David Gatheral was elected to the general committee. The main posts of Chairman (Peter Revell), Club Secretary (Adrian Pitt) and Treasurer (Steve Back), remained unchanged. It was decided that the Annual Club Tournament should be held at the end of June this year and that over the Summer, Monday evenings would be opened for "pay and play" table tennis to any member of the League or other person wishing to play or try table tennis. The Club will also be entering 4 teams in the Central Essex Summer League. All in all members felt it had been a good year for the Club. With visible expansion in membership numbers and a flourishing youth section which members were keen to encourage and develop, things also seem set fair for the future. resolution of the premises issue was seen as the number 1 priority to ensure that continued development. As many members of the Club as possible were asked to attend the League AGM on Thursday 29 May at Old Chelmsfordians Clubhouse, Roxwell Road, Chelmsford at 7.30 p.m.
