On The Move!

It's true folks! Baddow Village Table Tennis Club is on the move. For sometime the Club has been searching for new premises from which it can bring together its expanding Friday Club Night and the Coaching activities currently run from the Cathedral School. At last a suitable venue has been found! From Friday 4 July we will be moving to Melbourne Athletic Stadium, Salerno Way, Chelmsford. What an independence party it will be!  The available area for table tennis is huge! At present we have approximately 26 table hours of playing space available on a Friday evening. At Melbourne we will have double that with around 54 table hours available on the ONE evening!

Play will be available from 7 - 10 p.m. (yes, that's an early start - and an early finish - time to go for a drink afterwards?). 8 tables will be taken for junior  coaching with 2 one hour sessions (7.15 - 8-15 and 8.15 - 9.15) and a minimum of 6 tables for Club members. There are also likely to be 4 other tables available for anyone who wants to come and play or try table tennis on a "Pay & Play" basis, where for a small 'per-evening' fee they can enjoy play on a rotation basis throughout the whole 3 hours if they wish.

Melbourne is a tremendous facility with plenty of free car parking and easy access from the town centre. The size gives us tremendous potential to offer social, recreational and competitive table tennis for all. It is vital that members come and support and show just how much interest there is in table tennis. We hope you will join us there - for the first night party!

Opened in Autumn 2002 Melbourne Athletics Centre is a modern, well equipped, purpose built sports centre.

As you can see there is absolutely acres of space! We will have the whole of an 80m running track, which is 6 lanes wide! The lighting is up to National standards for table tennis, and the flooring provides an excellent playing surface - albeit that it is a little "grippy"! You certainly won't slip!

The Centre has a spacious and welcoming reception, there is a small refreshment area; and, if you wanted to, you could always book in for a session in the 'fitness room' - in between games of table tennis of course!
It even has decent, clean toilets and showers!

All in all we think this a wonderful opportunity for the Club to raise the profile of table tennis in Chelmsford. YOUR support will be very much appreciated.
See you there!

Travel details to the Centre will be available on this site at the end of the month.
