GOOD NEWS AT BADDOW Good News! Three new recruits have transferred into the Baddow line-up for the forthcoming season, and we are delighted to welcome them. They bring a wealth of experience and talent that will add further quality to our top teams. The twelve times Ladies Singles Champion Julie Vansertima has decided to join son Rykki in the Baddow colours. She is joined by first division star Peter Barrett whose Boreham Club was forced to close last season and whose design of a new Club logo, which can be seen on the home page of this site, features his own table tennis bat! Also, Ray Lawrence, who has recently been accompanying his son to Melbourne Coaching, has joined the Baddow line-up. Ray has been a regular Chelmsford player at division 2/3 level for some years and will add further strength to the B&C team line-ups .
And potential new players also continue to emerge through the Club Coaching programme at Melbourne Athletic Centre. The Dunlop Skills Award scheme, provides an excellent route into table tennis and enables youngsters to gain basic skills and recognition of their efforts fairly quickly. The pictures below show the latest achievers of the Rookie Award. Which is the first level of award, but which recognises an ability to perform four basic shots. The backhand and forehand push. A forehand drive and a backhand drive.
And yet more good news! At the recent Essex Junior Ranking Trials over the weekend 13/14 September, Haydn Upson, Sam Pitt, Rykki Vansertima and Adam Pitt did extremely well in the boys U13 event. All four boys came runners-up in their respective groups and in the play-offs achieved respectively 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th positions. An excellent achievement. And in the girls event, Laura Pyman really excelled. Finishing second in both the U15 and U18 events. Achieving some excellent wins en-route. Showing just how far she has come in the twelve months or so that she has been playing table tennis. Congratulations to all our juniors, and to the coaches that are encouraging them. |
