AWARDS FOR ALL!

Great News! For the second time in just over two years the Club has been successful in a bid for Lottery funding from Sport England under the Awards for All scheme which makes awards - up to a limit of £5,000 - for sport development.

Making the most of its status as an ETTA PremierClub the Club was supported in its bid for a grant for new equipment by the English Table Tennis Association. The Club bid was for a grant of £2,450 which was received in full. This has already been applied in acquiring 5 new tables for Melbourne which has enabled us to progress to the full 18 tables available for play on Club Nights each Friday.

Club Secretary, Adrian Pitt, said "We are absolutely delighted with this award, there must be very few clubs that can boast having 18 tables available for open play on its Club Night". Adrian went on to say that the support of the new ETTA Regional Development Officer, Mark Dare, who visited the Club in August was a major factor in making the successful bid. There was some doubt whether making a second funding bid so soon after the previous bid would be successful. But in the intervening 2 years the Club has undertaken significant development, crowned by the move to Melbourne earlier this year.

The new equipment now enables the Club to offer three Junior Coaching sessions on Friday evenings, including the Advanced Squad under league Coaching Officer Hil Dowsett, together with sessions for beginners and improvers under Neil Gooday, Adrian Pitt and Ryan Pitt. And still have at least 10 tables available for open play. And here the good news has been the increasing numbers of adults coming in for "Pay & Play" as well as the regular band of Club Members. It is great to see such positive interest in table tennis.
