CLUB SUPPORTS 10th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS

The Club were one of a number of users of the Melbourne Athletics Stadium that helped stage a celebration of 10 years of the National Lottery at the Stadium on Saturday the 6 November. The Stadium is one of the projects funded by Sport England through Lottery Grant. And to mark the 10th Anniversary celebrations for the Lottery opened its doors to the public for a come and try day. The Club were one of the users invited to take part offering come and try sessions over a 2 hour slot on 5 tables.

A large number of youngsters and several adults visiting the open day took the chance to try table tennis, in company with 3 of the Club coaches, Adrian Pitt, Ryan Pitt and Graham Turner. Also during the two hour session top players from the Club including Peter Barrett and Chelmsford Ladies Champion Julie Vansertima gave demonstrations of how the game can be played.

Leaflets such as the one displayed below were handed out, and more detailed leaflets about the Club in Question and Answer style were also made available. Sweets were given away as incentives for target hitting and controlling the ball and directing, and the centre were also distributing whistles and T Shirts, like the one shown in our picture. All in all it appears to have been a highly successful venture with a number of good contacts made by the table tennis section.

Designed by Coach Ryan Pitt, 'flyers' advertising Club Night activities were distributed during the 'Come & Try' session.

12 year old Damien Laverty was one of a number of young people seeing what Melbourne had on offer for the Come & Try day. As a table tennis regular he of course tried that, plus some trampolining. And the good news? Just by taking part he gained one of the super give-away T Shirts celebrating 10 years of the lottery, which he proudly sports here in table tennis action.
