TWO TEAMS REACH FINAL The Club are certain of at least one piece of silverware this year! Two of the club's teams in the Chelmsford & District Table Tennis League introductory competition, CLICK, have reached the final of the CLICK KO Cup and will now play each other for the trophy. This will be the first time the Club have won this particular trophy, A full report on the CLICK KO Cup can be found on the League website. The A team, of Alex Stone and Andrew Orme had to overcome Old Chelmsfordians to secure a place in the final. Which they did by a narrow 3:2 margin.
However the B team of Ben Steed and Tom Lee faced a much tougher challenge. They faced the two top teams from CLICK, ECC A and Danbury in a very tough group in which they were certainly the underdogs. But what a performance they turned in. A major upset saw them cruise through the opening match downing ECC A 3:0. ECC A were also well beaten by Danbury. Leaving the B team to face Danbury, the current holders of the trophy. And what a match this was. All 4 boys won 1 singles each leaving everything to play for in the final doubles. This was a see-saw game as the teams took alternating games to keep it tied at 2:2. A heroic effort by Ben & Tom in the final end saw them snatch the game, set and match and book a place in the final totally against expectations. Well done! And who knows ..... watch this space for a report on the final towards the end of March.
