STARS TURN OUT TO SUPPORT IMPROVEMENT

For the fourth consecutive year the Club has staged a highly successful summer Adult Coaching Course. The 10 week course on Monday evenings at Newlands was led by League Coaching Officer Hil Dowsett, supported by Club coaches Neil Gooday, Ryan Pitt and Adrian Pitt, and included a host of stars to support the programme and demonstrate relevant skills. These included Chelmsford  Ladies Champion Julie Vansertima, former first division star Terry Dowsett, the former England No.3 Stuart Gibbs a veteran player who has done it all! And perhaps the highlight of the programme was a visit from former Chelmsford Men's and Mixed Doubles Champion Steve Tilson, currently the Manager of Southend Utd Football Club. Truly a star studded line-up and the reactions of the 15 attendees - some of whom were returning to the Adult Coaching programme for a 2nd, 3rd or 4th time - show it was really appreciated. So much so, that at least 1 has already booked again for next year! The course ended on Monday 11 July, with all delegates receiving a certificate of recognition for their efforts.

Club Secretary Adrian Pitt said: "A great 10 weeks, great to see how hard the adults work.  Also special thanks, to Hil for continuing to provide the direction/exercises for the coaching and to Neil, Ryan, Julie, Terry, Steve and Stuart for helping to put it in to practice".

Seems that these summer adult coaching courses are a winning successful formula. Looking forward to next year already!

A real mixed bunch attended the 10 week course.

The visit of Southend Utd FC Manager Steve Tilson to Newlands even attracted media interest. This picture of Steve ,himself a former top first division player with Essex Police Headquarters, with Hector Rogers (Steve's right) and Andrew Lager (left) appearing in the Essex Chronicle on 30 June.
