New Season Heralds New Deal

It's not everyday that a table tennis club benefits from major sponsorship! But the start of the 2006/07 table tennis season sees the Club benefit from a very generous sponsorship deal that has provided the Club with an entirely new Club Shirt.

The deal worth in excess of £700 comes from Stansted Fuelling Company Ltd, a consortium of 6 major oil companies providing aviation fuel at Stansted Airport. And its Manager, Mr Bill Simpson, was on hand last Friday, together with his twin daughters Evangeline and Charlotte 13, to present the new kit.

The deal was negotiated on behalf of the Club by Paul Hudgell, the Father of Bradley & Bethany who are both junior members, an employee of the company.

As Father's do, Paul spoke of Bradley's achievements in table tennis in the short space of time that he has been playing. One of which, was winning the Restricted Singles title (for Division 4 down players) at last seasons Chelmsford Closed Championships. From that was born the idea of a team strip to generate pride and enthusiasm in the team. The idea grew and soon became one for a new strip for the whole of the Club. Just as there is pride in wearing an England shirt, so we hope that Members will feel pride in wearing the new Club shirts, and that they will inspire our teams in the new Chelmsford League season that starts today.

Bill Simpson, centre, Manager of Stansted Fuelling Company Ltd,
surrounded by his two daughters Evangeline and Charlotte,
presents the new Club shirts to Club Chairman Graham Turner.
A number of members sporting the new shirts watch on.

Paul proudly stands with 'the boss',
and his children Bradley and Bethany,
to inspect the new shirts which bear the Club logo
and on the sleeve the name of the company,
 Stansted Fuelling Company Ltd

Club Chairman, Graham Turner, takes a closer look at the new kit
and on behalf of the Club expressed sincere appreciation and thanks
 for the extremely generous support.

Paul was able to show 'boss' Bill a little of what goes on at Melbourne
on a Friday, and we've heard that his daughters (and possibly Bill himself) were able to have a little try out!
Thanks Bill for taking the time and trouble to come and see us.
 Do come again!
