Chairman Bows Out

Club Chairman, Graham Turner, made his last appearance at Club Night on Friday 2 February. After being a member of the Club for some 17 years, serving as a committee member, treasurer, secretary and finally as chairman Graham is moving on! As a result of work relocation Graham together with his wife and Damien (also a club member) will be moving to the North West and making their home in Liverpool. The move taking place on 8th February.

Colin Gooday, at present the Club Auditor, has agreed to stand in as acting Chairman until the next AGM when a new Chairman can be elected. Colin's appointment as acting Chairman having been approved by the Club Management Committee.

Although it was mostly business as usual for Graham on Friday, there was a brief pause in proceedings when Club Secretary Adrian Pitt, made a short presentation recognising Graham's service to the Club. In accepting the gift of a Multi-Media Digital Photo Display - and some pictures from Club Night to accompany it - Graham said it had been a joy to serve the Club which had given him many years of very happy sport. He thanked members for their loyalty and support and wished them well for the future. Graham said he believed BVTTC was a great club in the midst of very exciting times and that members should be thrilled to be associated with it at this time.

Club Member Chris Irvine presents departing Chairman Graham Turner
with a leaving gift on behalf of the Club. Chris has been one of the new regulars at Friday Night Club Night since the Club moved to Melbourne in 2003. Just one of a number of newcomers that have been attracted into table tennis since the Club has been able to offer the much improved facilities at Melbourne.

Departing Chairman even seemed to find some time for a few games on his last Friday, plus helping with the first coaching session and a little time to chat with members. Even so, it's not very clear what's happening here!
